By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran will build a 1,700 kilometer highway connecting the country's north to south, in the next four years, ISNA quoted deputy director of the Transportation Infrastructure Company of Iran Kheirollah Khademi as saying on Dec. 11.
The main road will start at Chabahar in the southeast and extend to Mashhad in the northeast. There it will become forked, one will go to Sarakhs border town and the other will go to Bajgiran border town, he explained.
He put the project's cost at 500 billion rials (about $20 million based on the U.S. official exchange rate of 24,800 rials).
He further said that 69 ring roads, totally 1700 kilometers in length, are being built in cities with over 100,000 people.
