By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

The resources of the Azerbaijani Azerspace-1 satellite will be used to exchange data among the stations of monitoring system for the diagnosis and management "Robust Noise Monitoring" (RNM), designed for seismic research, the Institute of Control Systems under the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences told Trend.

The Institute is considering the possibility of cooperation with the satellite operator of Azerbaijan - LLC "Azerspace". The details of this cooperation will be known after reaching the relevant agreement.

Currently, special software designed with the support of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan, is used for the information exchange among the monitoring system stations. The software enables disseminating the seismic acoustic signals directly to the server of the Institute.

The experiments are carried out upon the research conducted by the stations, allowing to detect the beginning of abnormal seismic processes in Azerbaijan and to monitor them. The inactive oil wells of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) are used for the experiments in the field of seismic activity. Currently, there are 10 stations in Azerbaijan. They can detect abnormal seismic processes, as well as to monitor them, the Institute told Trend earlier.

The monitoring system is based on an analysis of noise. This allows warning about the possibility of an earthquake within a radius of 300-400 kilometers for 5-20 hours ahead. At present, the experiments are underway to determine the coordinates of the earthquake epicenters.
