Sheki-Ipek JSC, a silk manufacturer in Azerbaijan, plans to expand variety of its products, Nizami Garibov, chairman of the company’s board, said at a meeting of the Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation on Feb. 7.
He said that along with silk, the company plans to start producing wool.
“Presently, there is demand for wool in Russia’s Daghestan,” said Garibov. “The sale of silk varies depending on the season - in winter it significantly declines. We could have compensated for this reduction by producing wool.”
He also noted that it is necessary to modernize the plant’s equipment in order to export products to European markets.
“If we change some of our machines, we will be able to export 30 percent of our products,” Garibov said.
