Uzbekistan Airways, the flag carrier of Uzbekistan, transported more than 2.703 million passengers in 2017.
In 2016, 2,471 million passengers used the services of the national air carrier of Uzbekistan.
Last year, Uzbekistan Airways performed 22,950 flights compared to 22,387 flights in 2016.
Overall, the company transported 48,900 tons of cargo, including paid luggage and mail, in 2017, which is more by 11.6 percent compared to 2016. Then, the airline transported 43,800 tons of cargo, including toll paid luggage and mail.
Uzbekistan Airways's cargo planes carried out 1,044 flights and transported 27,400 tons of cargo.
Uzbekistan Airways is wholly owned by the state and has 11 airports located on the territory of Uzbekistan, six of which are international. The company has representative offices in 25 countries.
Recently, Uzbekistan Airways was granted a right to sell air tickets for international flights below the prime cost.
This is stipulated in a resolution “On measures for development of inbound tourism” signed by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Furthermore, passengers of Uzbekistan Airways will be able to use paid communications services on board airplanes. The airline will introduce such services as phone calls, sending SMS-messages and the Internet.
