By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

Production of unrefined sunflower oil in Kazakhstan this January increased by 10.8 percent year-on-year to 12,800 tons, Trend reports via Energyprom.kz.

Refined oil production, in contrast, declined by 29.5 percent to 7,300 tons.

The East Kazakhstan region accounts for the main share, 82.4 percent (10,500 tons, 11.8 percent up year-on-year), of sunflower oil production in the country.

The region is home to the Sei-Nar company, which is engaged in production of unrefined vegetable oil, oil meal, oilcake and other agricultural products. The company supplies more than 60 percent of the production to China, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

It should be noted that last year, Kazakhstan's exports of sunflower oil increased by 35.1 percent year-on-year to 61,800 tons. As for the sale of oil in the domestic market, last year the figure decreased by 2 percent to 295,800 tons.
