How much wheat will Kazakhstan export this year?

Kazakhstan plans to export about 8 million tons of wheat this marketing year, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

"The annual potential amount of wheat exports is 8-9 million tons. This [marketing] year we exported 5.8 million tons and we plan to export another 2.2 million tons," Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Minister Saparkhan Omarov said at a press conference.

Last year, Kazakhstan exported 11.7 million tons of grain, including 4.9 million tons of wheat.

The minister also said that today there are about 10.5 million tons of grain in Kazakhstan: 3.7 million tons in grain elevators, 462,000 tons in flour mills, and 6.3 million tons in agricultural farms.

Moreover, today Kazakhstan has 8.3 million tons of grain in stock: 639,000 tons for food needs, 1.6 million tons for seeding, and 128,000 tons for industrial processing.
