By signing a joint agreement between the Iranian and Syrian housing ministers, Iranian companies will build 6,000 housing units in Syria, the head of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce announced.

Expressing hope for setting peace and stability in Syria, Gholam-Hossein Shafeie said that private sector of Iran is fully prepared to participate in the reconstruction of Syria and supply goods and services to the Syrian people, Trend reports citing IBENA.

“The Iranian Chamber has formed a Syrian Reconstruction Center. The establishment of a joint chamber of the two countries and the exchange of economic delegations are among issues on the agenda,” the official said.

"Focusing on enhancing economic cooperation is our top priority,” said Shafeie. “There is a need for greater efforts in both the public and private sectors to implement joint agreements."

Shafeie added that the signing of a strategic document on long-term cooperation with Syria by the Syrian prime minister and Iran's vice president was an important step.

Referring to Isaac Jahangiri's visit to Damascus, the head of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce said: "During past months, we have exchanged 10 trade delegations between the two countries. Two months ago the Syrian minister of energy visited Tehran and today we are welcoming the Syrian minister of housing.”

"In total, 30,000 housing units in Damascus, a suburb of Damascus and Aleppo will be built by Iranian companies in Syria,” he announced.
