Turkmen government has allocated long-term use lands for the introduction of water-saving technologies there, Trend reports with reference to Arzuw NEWS information portal.

In addition, Turkmenistan has been issuing targeted loans for the purchase of water-saving devices on preferential terms.

Furthermore, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan are implementing a project in the Akhal region of Turkmenistan aimed at improving energy efficiency.

A field with an area of 6.2 hectares has been allocated on a site of 145 hectares, where various water-saving irrigation systems are being studied. In particular, sprinkler irrigation, drip irrigation and surface irrigation are being studied.

This year, beets, vegetables, maize, and melons are being grown in Turkmenistan's irrigation areas using water-saving irrigation methods, including drip irrigation and sprinkling.

Earlier, Turkmenistan and UNDP held a meeting where they discussed issues of further cooperation, highlighting the results achieved in the field of health and environmental protection.
