Iran to produce more railway cars

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.2

Trend:

Iran has domestically produced 329 railway cars valued at $135 million, which added to the country's transportation fleet, said the deputy head of Iran Railways for passenger affairs Hassan Mousavi, Trend reports via IRNA.

"Production of railway cars would help the capacities of the railway industry," said Mousavi.

"The production of these vehicles in the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020) has created 1,391 jobs in production sector," he said.

"To protect the health of passengers from the coronavirus spread, only half of the cars would be active. The transportation in the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020) would be reduced by 14.9 million passengers, compared to the last Iranian year (started March 21,2019)," he said.

"Despite challenges in the cargo sector, transportation has increased by five percent compared to the last Iranian year (started March 21,2019).

"Improving production and human resources is priority of the country's railway sector, therefore salaries and bonuses of all employees would be paid on time even during the COVID-19 situation," he said.
