By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
The trade turnover between Latvia and Georgia had gradually increased over the last years (both in imports and exports), then 42 million euros in 2020, the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Trend.
"The largest exports in 2020: food production, including alcoholic beverages (36 percent), chemical production (20 percent), machinery and electrical devices (16 percent). Largest imports in 2020: food production, including alcoholic beverages (72 percent), plant-based products (20 percent)," the ministry said.
According to the ministry, in addition to the areas mentioned, it sees great potential for coopetition in high value-added sectors and new areas such as Smart Cities, Start-ups and other innovations.
Development of innovative products, services and business models through joint efforts by all relevant stakeholders is high on our agenda, the source said.
"Our ambition is to make Latvia the number 1 choice for start-ups in the Baltic region. The Latvian startup scene has a lot to offer (the government’s support is provided at various stages: startup law, visa, vouchers, science commercialization, acceleration funds, etc.)," the ministry added.
