Iran boosts caviar exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 25

Iran's caviar exports increased by 50 percent in terms of value and 110 percent in terms of volume, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Deputy Director of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Arezoo Ghanioun said, Trend reports citing IRIB.

The deputy director noted that Iran exported 1.3 tons of caviar worth $539,000 to 23 countries in 6 months.

“Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, Iran exported 605 kilograms of caviar worth $360,000,” he added.

Ghanioun said that Iran exported 466 kilograms of caviar worth $202,000 to five European countries, Britain, Spain, Switzerland, Greece and Portugal over the reporting period. In other words, 5 European countries accounts for about 37 percent of Iran's total caviar exports in 6 months.

According to him, about 32 percent of Iran's caviar within six months have been exported to the UAE, 17 percent to Britain, 6 percent to Portugal, 6 percent to Kuwait and 6 percent to Japan.

As reported, Iran exported 60 million tons of goods worth $21.8 billion during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021).

Iran's exports increased by 61 percent in terms of value and 30 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

In addition, Iran imported 19.1 million tons of goods worth $23.1 billion within the mentioned period. Iran's imports increased by 37 percent in terms of value and 15 percent in terms of value, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
