Volume of essential goods imported to Iran via Shahid Rajaee port soars

The volume of essential goods imported to Iran through the Shahid Rajaee port in the Hormozgan (southern Iran) increased by 92 percent, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through February 19, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Ports and Maritime Department in Hormozgan Province Alireza Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

The director general emphasized that more than 3.38 million tons of essential goods were imported to the country via Shahid Rajaee port, of which were unloaded from 66 ships.

"The imported essential goods include wheat, vegetable oil, sugar, fertilizers, corn, barley, rice and compressed soybeans," he added.

Mohammadi also noted that 1.46 million tons of wheat were imported through Shahid Rajaee port for the reporting period, which is an increase of 61 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

According to the official, over 11 months, more than 651,000 tons of vegetable oil, 282,000 tons of fertilizers, 274,000 tons of corn and about 134,000 tons of other essential goods were imported to Iran through the Shahid Rajaee port.
