Iran notes two-fold growth in imports volume from Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Iran's imports from Uzbekistan increased by 7.8 percent in value and 102 percent in volume, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month last year, Trend reports.

According to the data of Iran's Customs Administration (IRICA), the country imported a total of 2,230 tons of goods worth $3.07 million from Uzbekistan in the 1st month.

Meanwhile, in the same month of last Iranian year, Iran's imports from Uzbekistan amounted to 1,100 tons worth approximately $2.85 million.

Over the 1st month, Iran mainly imported cotton, beans, silk, ammonium nitrate and, etc. from Uzbekistan.

In total, Iran imported 35,200 tons of goods worth approximately $72.4 million from Uzbekistan over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is a decrease of 37 percent in value and 42.8 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

Overall, Iran imported 1.83 million tons of goods worth $3.08 billion for the 1st month. The imports decreased by 13 percent in value and 24.8 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year.
