BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. Iran’s imports through the customs of Golestan Province (north-eastern Iran), increased by 450 percent in value and 601 percent in volume, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Shahriar Shahriari said, Trend reports
“During 2 months, a total of 14,600 tons of goods worth $19.8 million were imported through the customs of Iran’s Golestan Province,” he said.
Meanwhile, Iran’s imports via the province’s customs stood at 2,080 tons worth $3.6 million in the same period of the last Iranian year, Shahriari added.
The director general also pointed out that the main imported goods via the province’s customs for the reporting period were soybean oil, petroleum coke, greenhouse equipment, diesel generator, cloth, barley feed and etc.
According to him, the mentioned goods were mainly imported from Türkiye, the UK, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and others.
Shahriari noted that in 2 months, the province's customs revenues amounted to approximately 657 billion rials (about $15.6 million), which is more than 14 times compared to the same period last Iranian year.
Overall, Iran imported 1.83 million tons of goods worth $3.08 billion for the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023). The imports decreased by 13 percent in value and 24.8 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year.
