Iran boosts passenger cars output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 29. Passenger car production in Iran increased by 10.1 percent, during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Trend reports.

According to the data of Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, 342,948 passenger cars were manufactured in Iran in 4 months, while in the same period last year, the figure stood at 311,411.

Furthermore, 336,456 cars were sold within the country for 4 months. This is 3.1 percent less than in the same period last year. So, 347,290 passenger cars were sold in Iran in the same period of the last Iranian year.

There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.

In total, 1.18 million passenger cars were manufactured in the country for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 35 percent compared to 874,000 units in the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
