Azerbaijan Imposes Ban on Purchase of Poultry Products from Krasnodar Territory of Russia

The State Veterinary Service of the Agriculture Ministry of Azerbaijan has imposed a ban on the purchase of poultry products from Krasnodar Territory of Russia, Trend reports referring to the Veterinary Service.

The ban was imposed due to the discovery of H5 virus in the Krasnodar Territory at the end of January 2007.

Currently this ban is only applicable to the Krasnodar Territory of Russia. At present poultry products are not purchased from Russia, the same source said.

To prevent the infiltration of bird flu' virus into the country, all frontier veterinary points are operating on medium security, the prohibition on hunting, sale and eating of wild birds in the country still remains in force, as well as the import of poultry and poultry food into the country from those countries where cases of the virus have been detected.
