SOCAR Georgia Gas awarded int'l certificate of quality

SOCAR Georgia Gas, which enters SOCAR Energy Georgia, was awarded the international certificate of quality ISO 9001:2008 of SGS Company on import, realization, distribution of natural gas, gasification and operation of gas-distributing networks, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) reported today.

SOCAR Georgia Gas, which enters SOCAR Energy Georgia, was awarded the international certificate of quality ISO 9001:2008 of SGS Company on import, realization, distribution of natural gas, gasification and operation of gas-distributing networks, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) reported today.

SOCAR Energy Georgia represents SOCAR's interests in the Georgian market.  The certificate is recognized by the world standard of quality and reliability, the report says.

The SGS Company is one of the leading companies in the world on inspection, verification, testing and certifications.

SOCAR Georgia Gas is the first company on gasification in Georgia which has received the above-stated certificate of quality.

In November 2008, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed the agreement to stir up SOCAR's activity on Georgian gas market during next 5 years beginning from 2009. Under the agreement, SOCAR will launch subsidiaries to supply gas to consumer groups pinpointed by the Georgian government. The sides also signed an agreement on gas deliveries for five years, including to social groups of subscribers identified by the Georgian government under the invariability of prices within five years. SOCAR received the networks in February 2009.

SOCAR Energy Georgia is engaged in distributing and marketing oil and oil products in Georgia. In particular, the company sells oil and gas on the Georgian market. SOCAR Energy Georgia's co-founders are SOCAR (The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan)- 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO 24.5 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili - 24.5 percent.
