Astana has all chances to host the World Petroleum Congress in 2017, head of the World Petroleum Council Renato Bertani told media in Astana on Wednesday.
"We are waiting for a request from your country and are willing to consider it," Bertani said.
The World Petroleum Congress is held every three years. In 2014 it will be held in Moscow.
Chairman of the Executive Committee of Russia's World Petroleum Council Vladimir Kornev attended the press conference. He said that the exact date of the congress in Moscow is June 15-19, 2014.
"Russia managed to gain a majority of votes in Beijing in 2010 to hold the congress in Moscow," he said. "But we started to prepare for this event at the beginning of this year."
He added that according to the head of the Russian government, the organizing committee of the World Petroleum Congress has been established.
"The organizing committee included all Russia's oil elite," he said. "We work hard, we have all the necessary support within the country and at the World Petroleum Council to make the upcoming event the best in the world."
