SOCAR Petroleum Georgia company, which is SOCAR Energy Georgia's subsidiary (represents the interests of the Azerbaijani State Oil Company in Georgia), was named the Georgian largest company of 2012, Iliauni Business Review (IBR) said today.
IBR compiled a list of 100 largest companies in Georgia on the basis of the Georgian Statistics Agency's data.
SOCAR Petroleum Georgia has a network of petrol stations throughout Georgia. The company is a supplier of nearly 70 percent of Georgian fuel.
According to Iliauni Business Review, the ten largest companies in Georgia includes: Toyota Caucasus, San Petroleum Georgia (Gulf), Wissol Petroleum Georgia, Georgian Railway, Lukoil Georgia, Georgian Manganez, Rustavi nitrogen, BP and Toyota Center Tbilisi.
Around 18 percent of the top 100 companies operate in the Georgian energy sector, 6 percent - oil, 5 percent - auto dealers, 12 percent - transport and logistics, 11 percent - the heavy industry, 4 percent - communications, 10 percent - construction, 8 percent - sale of tobacco, 5 percent - gambling, 6 percent - pharmacology and medicine, 13 percent - food industry and distribution, 2 percent - various other sectors.
