Major gas field’s reserves in Azerbaijan may rise by a quarter

Gas reserves in the gas condensate field "Shah Deniz" in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, according to initial estimates, may reach 1.5 trillion cubic meters, the first vice-president of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) Khoshbaht Yusufzadeh said at an event dedicated to the 90th birthday of the national leader Heydar Aliyev on Tuesday.

Gas reserves in the gas condensate field "Shah Deniz" in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, according to initial estimates, may reach 1.5 trillion cubic meters, the first vice-president of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) Khoshbaht Yusufzadeh said at an event dedicated to the 90th birthday of the national leader Heydar Aliyev on Tuesday.

According to him, the discovery of a large deposit is of great importance for the development of the gas potential of the country.

"If currently, the proven reserves are estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters, according to initial estimates, this figure could be increased to 1.5 trillion cubic meters," Yusufzadeh said.
