Georgian Energy Ministry, "Royal Haskoning DHV" signs memorandum

The Georgian Energy Ministry and the "Royal Haskoning DHV" company signed a memorandum on Wednesday.

The document was signed by minister Kakha Kaladze and Director General of "Business Unit Industry & Energy" (subsidiary of "Royal Haskoning DHV") Eric Tshvele.

The memorandum envisages the construction of a hydro power plant over the Tekhura River (West Georgia).

It is planned to hold technical and economic research in order to construct a new hydro power plant.

The company must complete research within 18 months. Afterwards, technical data of the hydro power plant will be specified and the investor will start concrete procedures to carry out construction work.

Tekhura cascade envisages the construction of four hydro power plants:

Lechkha HPP - capacity: 18.4 megawatt, output: 90.8 million kilowatt/hour per year;

Erjia HPP - capacity: 29.1 megawatt, output: 133.7 million kilowatt/hour per year;

Ckhimra HPP - capacity: 27.6 megawatt, output: 134.4 million kilowatt/hour per year;

Nobulevi HPP - capacity: 42 megawatt, output: 197.4 million kilowatt/hour per year.

"Business Unit Industry & Energy" is a subsidiary of the South African company "Royal Haskoning DHV" which invests in Georgia for the first time. It operates in around 35 countries of the world and has a great experience in construction of HPP.
