An agreement on supply of oil from Kazakhstan's Tengiz field through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline till 2015 has been signed, a source at Kazakhstan's oil and gas market told Trend.

"The agreement on the supply of about four million tons of Tengiz oil through Azerbaijan, including BTC till 2015 has been signed," the source said.

Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan was and will be a backup route for Kazakhstan, the source said.

"In addition, it should be taken into account that the implementation of the project for the future expansion at Tengiz field will lead to the increase in oil production from the current 26 million tons per year to 38 million tons per year," the source added.

Tengiz oil supplies through the Caucasus corridor, including BTC, resumed in August this year.

We are talking about an agreement for the supply of four million tons of Tengiz oil per year through the territory of Azerbaijan. Nevertheless, the supplies will be distributed as follows: three million tons - through the BTC, one million tons - through the Black Sea ports of Batumi (owned by KazMunaiGas JSC - Trend note) and Kulevi.
