Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 11

By Emil Ismayilov - Trend:

Azerbaijan may provide the debt repayment of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to Turkey on the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Energy Bridge project," Deputy Energy Minister Natig Abbasov told journalists on Dec.11.

The deputy minister said that today with the opening of a number of energy facilities in Georgia, from a technical point of view it will be possible to make deliveries within the energy bridge.

"However, the question of a commercial electricity supply within the bridge will be discussed by relevant players," the deputy minister said.

Abbasov also did not rule out the possibility of the start of deliveries in 2014.
Speaking about the return of NAR's debt to Turkey, Abbasov noted that within five years the Autonomous Republic returned only 1.5 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity from the total debt of 3.6 billion kilowatt / hours.

A return of electricity through the energy bridge will allow it to do so much faster and raise the efficiency of using raw materials by increasing the involvement of generating capacities.

The Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Energy Bridge project envisages the supply of some 1200 megawatt of electricity to Turkey and 600 megawatt of it will fall to Azerbaijan. In total, the project plans to export up to 2,000 megawatt of electricity from Turkey to Europe.
