US increases import of petroleum products from Azerbaijan

The US imported 718,000 barrels of petroleum products from Azerbaijan in Jan.-July 2015, or 8.5 times more than in the same period of 2014, said the message posted on the website of the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
The US imported 84,000 barrels of petroleum products from Azerbaijan in Jan.-July 2014.
This country imported 484,000 barrels of petroleum products from Azerbaijan in 2014, compared to 366,000 barrels in 2013.
The US resumed the import of petroleum products from Azerbaijan in 2012 after the long break that has been going on since 2009. The volume of petroleum products delivered to the US from Azerbaijan totaled 308,000 barrels in 2008.
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is the sole manufacturer of petroleum products in the country.
Previously, petroleum products were manufactured at two refineries in Baku. However, recently, Azneftyag refinery was eliminated and was included in Baku oil refinery named after Heydar Aliyev.
