Norwegian oilfield services company HydraWell will continue to monitor the market in Azerbaijan, Vice President for business development of the company Arne Larsen told Trend via email May 24.

"We will continue to monitor the market in Azerbaijan and increase our activities here as necessary, but there are no specific plans yet," Larsen said.

He also added that the company is ready to support any field operator in Azerbaijan, which is looking for cost-effective methods of bridging offshore and onshore wells.

"However, for certain reasons I can't be more specific," Larsen said.

HydraWell has signed a contract for the provision of services for the well plugging and abandonment at major Azerbaijani gas field "Absheron" with the company Total E&P Absheron. This work was successfully completed in early May. In particular, the contract provided for the use of hydraulic system HydraHemeraTM Perf, Wash and Cement (PWC ®), which is able to install the barriers between the rocks in two days.

In 2016, SOCAR and Total signed a framework agreement on the main contractual and commercial principles governing the first phase of the Absheron field development program.

At the first stage, the development of the field includes drilling one well at a sea depth of 450 meters. As part of the first stage of development of "Absheron" it is planned to produce about 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas and 700,000 tons of condensate. At the second stage, it is planned to produce up to four billion cubic meters of gas per year.

According to experts of Total, the reserves of the field "Absheron" make 326 billion cubic meters of gas and 108 million tons of condensate.

JOCAP, a joint venture with 50 percent ownership by SOCAR and the remaining 50 percent by Total, is the operator of the development of the Absheron field.
