Turkey reduces import of gas from Russia

Turkey imported 7.8 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia in January-March of this year, as compared to 7.94 billion cubic meters delivered a year earlier, reads the report posted on the website of the Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).

Turkey imported 28.64 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia in 2017 against 24.54 billion cubic meters delivered in 2016.

According to the report, in the first quarter, Turkey imported 15.4 billion cubic meters of gas, of which 10.96 billion cubic meters were imported through pipelines, and 4.57 billion cubic meters fell on LNG imports.

The share of Russia in the total import of gas by Turkey in January-March 2018 amounted to 50.6 percent.

Russian gas is supplied to Turkey via the Blue Stream gas pipeline and the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline. Blue Stream is a gas pipeline with a capacity of 16 billion cubic meters per year, laid on the bottom of the Black Sea and providing direct gas supplies to Turkish consumers.
