Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 25

By Azad Hasanli – Trend:

Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR exported 1.355 billion cubic meters of gas to Georgia in January-August 2018, the company told Trend on Sept. 25.

Until the end of the year, there are plans to supply 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas to Georgia via SOCAR and the Shah Deniz consortium.

In 2017, SOCAR exported 1.38 billion cubic meters of gas to Georgia.

The Azerbaijani market is priority for SOCAR, so the company directs all gas produced in Azerbaijan exclusively to the local market. For the sale of gas abroad, gas volumes purchased from third parties (including abroad) are mainly used to support foreign business and generate additional revenues for Azerbaijan.

Presently, SOCAR is the main supplier of natural gas, oil and oil products to Georgia.
