Petronas prepared eco-project in Turkmenistan

Malaysia’s Petronas company working in the Turkmenistan’s part of the Caspian Sea, has prepared a comprehensive plan for sustainable environmental protection, Trend reports on 26 Nov. referring to the Turkmengas State Concern.

The measures outlined in the plan are aimed at strengthening the environmental component in the activities of the operator in Turkmenistan, and in particular near its production facilities.

The company's focus is on implementing measures to reduce emissions and waste, as well as rational use in energy and water production

Petronas held a presentation for the employees of the company, subcontractors, specialists of the Caspian Environmental Control Service, during which the obligations of the parties to protect the ecological balance in accordance with international conventions and protocols on climate change were discussed.

Petronas has been engaged in exploration and production of hydrocarbons on the Block-I contract territory since 1996, the company's investments amounted to about $11 billion. At present, the “Magtymguly” and “Diyarbekir” fields are intensively producing oil and gas. The nearest plans are to activate drilling operations in the western part of the Garagol Deniz field.
