Iran launches first domestically manufactured turbine in gas transmission network

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 21

The first domestically manufactured 25-megawatt turbine has been commissioned in Iran’s gas transmission network, Research and Technology Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohsen Mazloom Farsibaf said Jan. 21 at the 16th Kish International Energy Exhibition, Trend reports referring to Shana news agency.

Farsibaf noted that this domestically-manufactured gas turbine has been designed and manufactured with the support of the NIGC and cooperation of Oil Turbo Compressor Construction Company.

The director mentioned the planning for designing and manufacturing smart pigs in gas industry and added that the first smart pig will be manufactured in cooperation with the Iranian knowledge-based companies.

Pilot operation of these turbines has started in gas transmission network and mass production of these turbines with completely native technology will kick off next Iranian year (to start March 21, 2020), Farsibaf added.

The 16th Kish International Energy Exhibition kicked off Jan. 21 in Kish Island, Iran, and will last until Jan. 23.

Representatives of more than 140 local and foreign companies, including those from China, Italy, Japan, UK, Netherlands, UAE, Russia, South Korea, manufacturers and specialists in oil, gas, refining, petrochemical and electrical industries are participating in the exhibition.
