First in the region wind park worth 40 billion tenge ($99.8 million) will be constructed in Kazakhstan’s East Kazakhstan region, Trend reports with reference to the Kazakh media.
The wind park will be constructed in region’s Ayagoz district near Aktogay settlement.
“The investor has already been selected. The signal mast which detects wind characteristics has been installed last year. The received preliminary data meet investor’s criteria,” the report said.
The information also said that the wind park will be named Abay-1.
Earlier this year, Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy Nurlan Nogayev said that the ‘green’ energy production in 2019 amounted to 2.4 billion kWh, which is 77.8 percent more than in 2018.
Twenty-one renewable energy sources were put into operation in 2019, whereas total value of investments attracted in RES amounted to $613 million. Some 90 renewable energy objects the capacity of which was 1,050 MW, were operating in Kazakhstan as of the end of 2019.
