Some 9 new wells were drilled and improved at the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), said Afshar Arefi Sigarudi, Head of Drilling Department of ICOFC, Trend reports citing ICOFC’s website.

According to Arefi Sigarudi, in addition, 7 wells were repaired in the company's oil fields.

Arefi Sigarudi added that a total of 27,000 meters were drilled by using 8 excavation platforms.

The official said that the wells were drilled in Dehloran, Saadatabad, Tabnak, Homa and Cheshme Khosh fields.

“Ultra Deep Highly Deviated Well drillings have been successfully carried out in the fields with special features. For example, drilling in the Dehloran field is very complex and difficult. The company's drilling department has drilled 4,700-meter-deep well in the field,” he said.

Arefi Sigarudi said that the company aims to reduce drilling costs, taking into account environmental requirements. For example, one well in the Dehloran field saved 27 billion rials (about $ 642,000) by complying with environmental requirements.

According to reports of the company, over the past two years, the company has saved a total of 751 billion rials (about $ 17.8 million) and about 150,000 euros by complying with a number of requirements.

The Dehloran oil field is located 180 km south of Kermanshah city and 22 km southwest of Dehloran county. The Dehloran field was discovered in 1972. The field produces 25,000 barrels of oil per day.

The Saadatabad oil field at Fars province in southern Iran produces 4,000 barrels of crude oil per day. A project is being worked out to develop this field. Thus, production from this field will reach 7,000 barrels per day.

The Tabnak gas field at Fars province produces 39.4 million cubic meters of gas and 19,500 barrels of gas condensate daily.

The Homa gas field at Fars province is associated with the Shanol gas field. About 35.6 million cubic meters of gas and 12,700 barrels of gas condensate will be extracted daily from these two fields.

The Cheshme Khosh oil field at Ilam province in western Iran produces 18,000 barrels of crude oil and 3.2 million cubic meters of gas per day.
