Azerbaijan increases gas export along Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum route

Azerbaijan exported over 3.9 billion cubic meters of gas via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (BTE) natural gas pipeline from January through April 2020, which is 12.8 percent more compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing a report of the State Statistical Committee.

Some 35.5 percent all gas transported by Azerbaijan accounted for Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum. Over the year, this figure increased by 1.1 percent.

In the first four months of 2020, over 11.1 billion cubic meters of gas was transported via the Azerbaijani major pipelines, which is 13.1 percent more compared to the same months of 2019.

The length of the BTE pipeline is more than 700 kilometers. Gas produced at the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, is transported through this pipeline to Georgia and Turkey.
