BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 17

By Nargiz Ismayilova – Trend:

Azerbaijan exported over 6.9 billion cubic meters of gas via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (BTE) gas pipeline from January through July 2020, which is 19.5 percent more compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing a report of the State Statistical Committee.

The committee noted that 38.9 percent of all gas transported by Azerbaijan during the reporting period accounted for BTE pipeline.

This figure rose by 2.6 percentage points over the year, said the committee.

In the first seven months of this year, 17.8 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas were shipped via the country’s major pipelines, which is 11.5 percent more compared to the same period last year.

The length of the BTE pipeline is more than 700 kilometers. Gas produced at the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is transported through this pipeline to Georgia and Turkey.
