Iran has progressed in development of gas distribution and increase of gas production at the South Pars field, and so far 98 percent of households in cities and 82 percent of villages have access to gas, said Iranian Government Spokesman, Ali Rabiei, Trend reports via IRNA.

"The natural gas production in the country has increased considerably. Iran's sweet gas production has reached 900 million cubic meters per day that is due to 2.5 times increase of gas production at South Pars," said Rabiei.

"The gas pipelines across the country can transfer 870 million cubic meters of gas per day that is a new record in the country," he said.

"The number of villages with access to gas has doubled since 2013 from 14,000 villages to 32,219 villages that would continue to increase to 35,000 villages by the end of government ruling term (in July)," he said.

"The number of cities with access to gas have increased from 1,051 cities in 2013 to 1,212 by the end of current Iranian year (starts March 20,2020)," he said.

"The reports from the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) indicate Iran's refining capacity has increased from 1.8 million barrels in 2013 to 2.3 million barrel in current Iranian year(starts March 20,2020)," he said.
