Azerbaijan's gas exports via Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline continues to grow

Azerbaijan exported 2.9 billion cubic meters of gas via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline from January through February 2021, which is by 42 percent more than in the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing a report from the State Statistical Committee.

According to the report, 45.6 percent of all gas transported by Azerbaijan in 2M2021 accounted for Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum. Over the year this indicator grew by 12.1 percentage points.

Meanwhile, 6.55 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through the main pipelines of Azerbaijan, which is by 8 percent more than in the first 2 months of 2020.

As earlier reported, in January this year the country exported over 1.6 billion cubic meters of gas via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline.

The length of the pipeline is over 700 kilometers. The gas which is produced at the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is transported via this gas pipeline. Gas is supplied by pipeline to Georgia and Turkey.
