The volume of gas supplied into the Iranian gas network amounted to 844 million cubic meters on January 9, 2022, Deputy Oil Minister for Planning, Houshang Falahatian told Shana News Agency, Trend reports.
According to Falahatian, about 789 million cubic meters of this were consumed by thermal power plants, industrial plants, residential and commercial facilities.
The deputy minister added that the thermal power plants accounted for 116 million cubic meters of total consumption.
"There is an increase in electricity consumption at thermal power plants. So, Iran's thermal power plants consumed daily 187 million cubic meters of gas in the 9th month of last Iranian year (November 21 through December 20, 2020). Accordingly, in the 9th month of the current Iranian year (November 22 through December 21, 2021), thermal power plants were expected to consume 200 million cubic meters of gas daily. However, the figure reached 206 million cubic meters for the reporting month,” he said.
Falahatian also pointed out that the industrial plants accounted for 106 million cubic meters of total gas consumption on Jan. 9. Thus, 5.5 million cubic meters of gas were consumed by cement plants, 23 million cubic meters – by steel plants, 55.5 million cubic meters – by petrochemical plants and 22.5 million cubic meters – by refineries.
The deputy minister noted that about 566 million cubic meters of gas were consumed by residential and commercial facilities.
