BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14. A total of 13.455 billion cubic meters were transported through Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (South Caucasus Pipeline) from January through August 2022 as compared to 11.194 billion cubic meters in the same period in 2021, Trend reports via State Statistic Committee of Azerbaijan.

As such, the volume of gas transportation via the South Caucasus Pipeline grew by more than 20.2 percent year-on-year.

Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum accounted for 52.7 percent of gas transported through Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines in the first eight months of 2022, versus 49.5 percent in the same period in 2021.

Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines transported almost 25.534 billion cubic meters from January through August 2022, as compared to 22.634 billion cubic meters in the same period in 2021, showing a 12.8 percent growth.

The SCP shareholders are: bp (29.99 percent), LUKOIL (19.99 percent), TPAO (19 percent), SOCAR (14.35 percent), NICO (10 percent) and SGC (6.7 percent).

The SCP has been operational since late 2006, transporting Shah Deniz gas to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The expanded section of the pipeline commenced commercial deliveries to Turkey in June 2018 and to Europe in December 2020.

The transfer of South Caucasus Pipeline Company (SCPC) technical operatorship from BP Exploration (Shah Deniz) Limited to SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC was completed on August 1,2022.
