Cash turnover in Uzbekistan's banking system increases

Bank cash offices in Uzbekistan received 85 percent more cash in June 2020 compared to April 2020, Trend referring to Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

In the period from April through June 2020, cash circulation in Uzbekistan's banking system was shaped by the socio-economic processes taking place in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, the message said.

Cash turnover through bank cash offices increased along with quarantine easing: in June 2020, compared to April 2020, it increased by 85 percent to 14.6 trillion soum ($1.4 billion).

At that, the figure for June 2020 is still much lower than in the pre-quarantine period (in January 2020 it was 15.8 trillion soums - $1.5 billion).

In the next months, the Central Bank expects positive changes due to improved epidemiological situation and softening of quarantine.

Significant portion of increase in cash receipts in June 2020, falls on trade and paid services (3.5 trillion soums - $342.7 million) and banking services (1.4 trillion soums - 137.1 million).

In June 2020, the total amount of money transferred to bank cards made up 15.9 trillion soum ($1.5 billion), of which 6.1 trillion soum (597.3 million) was cashed by the population.
