Average monthly salary in Baku increases

The average monthly nominal salary of workers in Baku increased by 15.7 percent from January through July 2020, compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to 948.5 manat ($557.9), Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

In the past eight months of 2020, the volume of paid services to the population in real terms decreased by 26.9 percent compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to 2.49 billion manat ($1.46 billion).

At the same time, legal entities provided services to the population for 1.62 billion manat (nearly $953 million), which amounted to 65.2 percent of the total cost of services.

From January through June 2020, the average monthly nominal salary of workers in Baku increased by 17.5 percent compared to the same period of 2019 and reached 959.8 manat ($564.5).

Following the comprehensive social reforms carried out under the relevant instructions of Azerbaijan’s President, the minimum salary in the country was increased to 250 manat ($147), which significantly affected the salaries of civil servants, employees of a number of budgetary institutions, enterprises and organizations, and state oil companies.
