Long-term loans for construction sector in Azerbaijan increase

The volume of lending to the Azerbaijani construction sector as of early November 2020 amounted to 432.3 million manat ($254.3 million), Trend reports citing the data from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, this figure is 32.4 million manat ($19 million) or 8.1 percent more compared to the same period of last year. However, a decline of 34.3 million manat ($20.2 million or 7.4 percent) is observed compared to the beginning of the year.

Some 260.7 million manat ($153.3 million) or 60.3 percent accounted for the share of long-term loans in the Azerbaijani construction sector. This figure is by 11.1 million manat ($6.5 million) or 4.4 percent more, compared to early November 2019. The loans in the amount of 128 million manat ($75.3 million) were issued in national currency while $132.8 million manat ($78.1 million) in foreign currency.

Short-term loans in the Azerbaijani construction sector amounted to 95.3 million manat ($56 million) or 22 percent of the total amount of loans in this sector. Some 38.4 million manat ($22.6 million) of that amount were issued in national currency while $56.9 million ($33.4 million) in foreign currency.

The loans were mainly issued to the private institutions both in national currency, amounting to 38.5 percent (166.4 million manat that’s $97.8 million) of the total lending to the construction sector, and in foreign currency - $189.7 million manat or $111.6 million (43.9 percent).

The share of lending to the construction sector in lending to the real sector amounted to 2.9 percent, and this indicator increased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous year.

In general, the volume of lending to the real sector as of November 1 amounted to 14.78 billion manat ($8.69 billion), up by 340.1 million manat ($200 million).
