Iran's CBI lifts foreign currency import restrictions

TEHRAN, Iran, May 21. The Central Bank of Iran has issued a new directive lifting restrictions on the amount of foreign currency people can import, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Ali Salehabadi announced that there are no restrictions on the import of foreign currency banknotes.

According to the latest directive issued by CBI, the imported hard currencies are exempt from the tax.

Salehabadi said the importer may not need to declare the origin of currency they are carrying into the country.

"The decision has been issued to the customs," he said.
