BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 27. Bank deposits of the Azerbaijani population (including individual businessmen) totaled 11.9 billion manat ($6.99 billion) by the end of January 2023, increasing by 1.58 percent compared to the end of December 2022, Trend reports citing the Azerbaijani Central Bank's statistical report.

According to the bank, bank deposits of the population in foreign currency increased by 0.6 percent – up to 4.6 billion manat ($2.7 billion), making up 38.8 percent of all deposits of the population.

The amount of the population's deposits in the national currency grew by 2.2 percent – up to 7.299 billion manat ($4.28 billion) as of February 1, 2023, accounting for 61.2 percent of all deposits.

As of February 1, 2023, bank deposits of residents reached 10.76 billion manat ($6.3 billion), and non-residents – 1.16 billion manat ($681.5 million). In the indicated period, resident deposits edged up by 1.8 percent, while non-resident deposits dropped by 0.7 percent.

In total, as of January 31, 2023, the bank savings amounted to 35.552 billion manat ($20.88 billion), which was 1.9 percent less than in December 2022.

In 2021, bank deposits of the Azerbaijani population (including individual businessmen) settled at 9.2 billion manat ($5.4 billion).
