Human Resources Fund Registered in Azerbaijan to Develop Information & Communication Technologies

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 February / corr. Trend S. Babayeva/ The Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan has officially registered a human resources charitable fund, established in late 2006 to develop information and communication technologies in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan said on 18 February. The establishment of the Fund as a non-government organization was initiated by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies and IT (information technology) companies.

"The issue of registration has been open for a long time and has been solved at last," the Ministry said.

The Fund includes over 15 IT companies- AZEL, Sinam, Ultra, Catel, Azercell, Bakcell, Azerfon, Microsoft and others. Other IT companies operating in Azerbaijan can be admitted to fund membership in the future.

The Ministry said that the first meeting of the Fund is expected to be held at the end of February where members of the Board will be elected and a plan of assistance to help domestic IT staff to get IT education abroad will be adopted.

Some 30 people study in colleges of Ukraine, US and Korea with help from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies. However, once the fund is established the education of the students will be paid for by the fund which in turn will be financed by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies.
