The mobile operator of Azerbaijan Azercell LLC is ready to stimulate the development of mobile payments in the country, the company told Trend Sept. 21.

Such an initiative should be raised by the banking sector, the company stated.

"The operator can play the role of a link. We are interested in this direction of activity, we are conducting negotiations and trying to make this service available to users. Our strategy is to provide users with greater opportunities and accordingly with more mobile services that would encourage the use of mobile internet, which in turn contributes to the growth of smart-phone penetration in the country. Therefore, today we are working in all areas both in the mobile market and the banking sector. However, we need partners. Therefore, as soon as bilateral readiness in this area is reached, the mobile payment service will be launched. For our part, we are ready for this," the company said.

The company announced earlier that the launch of MFS (Mobile Finance Services) requires big investments, and at the same time the operator's income from its provision will not be so significant. The main purpose of launching this service is to provide convenience to the end user in the implementation of mobile payments.

The MFS service will allow to pay for goods and services, as well as to make money transfers both within Azerbaijan and abroad. Connection to the service does not require a change of Sim-card.
