Some 192,238 telephone points were installed, and the plan was exceeded by 12 percent for 2020 in Turkmenistan by Türkmenaragatnaşyk Agency (Turkmen Communications), which performs the tasks of digitalization of the national economy, ensuring well-coordinated interaction of all systems, including providing legal support for the expansion of the range of Internet services, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.
This was said by Chairman of Turkmen Communications Hajimyrat Khudaygulyevat at a working meeting on the development of Turkmenistan’s transport and communication sector, held by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The country has 685 kilometers of communication lines, 266,160 people are internet users.
The law on electronic document, electronic document management and digital services was adopted in Turkmenistan, as well as a number of documents on the creation and implementation of an electronic document management system and websites in ministries and departments, according to which 510 websites were created and registered in the country.
In addition, all types of communication services in the country are provided through a digital system and are placed on the portal of public services - "e.gov.tm".
On the basis of the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics, "Digital Solutions – IT Platform" business company was created, whose specialists accept orders for the introduction of digital systems and launch them into production.
Earlier, Türkmenaragatnaşyk held a videoconference with the representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Turkmenistan, where they discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the field of communication technologies.
Noting the fruitful nature of the programs implemented at the state level, the parties spoke about long-term plans related to improving methods in the field of digital education, social protection and health care.
