Internet tariffs reduced in Turkmenistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 9

Turkmenistan reduced tariffs for use of the Internet traffic on ADSL technology and unlimited Internet through ADSL, VDSL, and to hire dedicated info channel, Trend reports with reference to "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age" electronic newspaper.

Reduced tariffs are provided separately for the population of cities, for the rural population in districts, for state-owned enterprises and organizations, private entrepreneurs, non-state legal entities without foreign investors (business companies, individual enterprises, etc.), and for scientific and educational institutions of Turkmenistan.

On average, prices are reduced from 22 to 52 percent, the report said.

Internet services in Turkmenistan are provided by Turkmentelecom and AGTS.

Currently, the sphere of communications and telecommunications is rapidly becoming one of the most promising and dynamically developing sectors of the national economy.

Thus, the decree of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved seven priority areas for the development of domestic science, including communications, especially in the field of development of modern communication technologies and production automation.
