Uzbekistan Railways, Indonesian travel association agree on operating charter flights

Uzbekistan Railways and the Indonesian travel association agreed to organize two flights a week from Jakarta to Samarkand, Trend reports referring to the Department for Tourism Development of the Samarkand Region.

According to the information, 148 million tourists travel the world annually for the purpose of pilgrimage.

The Deputy Governor for Tourism and Sports Development Botirjon Nurullaev at a meeting of the Regional Council with an Indonesian company said that if the situation with coronavirus pandemic does not worsen, the number of tourists wishing to visit the Samarkand region could reach 210,000.

He said that it is planned to host more than 100,000 people from Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, and other countries.

In this regard, it is planned to organize two flights a week from Jakarta to Samarkand within the framework of cooperation with the largest Indonesian tourism association Asita Sapuhi.

It is reported that agreements have already been signed on attracting 300 to 500 tourists to Samarkand, where two-day tours will be organized for them. Thus, agreements were reached with Uzbekistan Railways on the organization of a charter flight Jakarta-Samarkand-Jakarta route.
