New road put into operation in Iran's Golestan Province

A 10-kilometer part of the Bandar Torkaman-Kordkuy road in the Golestan Province (northeastern Iran) has been put into operation, Trend reports citing the IRNA.

According to the report, about 360 billion rials (about $8.57 million) were spent on the laying of this part of the road. The construction of the road began last year.

The Iranian Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami and other officials attended the opening ceremony of the road.

As reported, there are currently 5,000 kilometers of roads in Golestan Province.

The province produces more than 5.15 million tons of agricultural products a year and more than 1,200 industrial and manufacturing enterprises operate in the province.

Today on Feb. 27, a total of 19 facilities in Iran's Golestan Province are to be put into operation or the foundation of them is to be laid at a cost of 2.84 trillion rials (about $67.6 million).
