By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

At least 1,500 locomotives and wagons will be renewed in Iran within the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

Eslami noted that the number of locomotives and wagons to be renewed will increase if additional funds are allocated to the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (IRIR).

The minister added that about 1,800 locomotives and wagons have been renewed in Iran two years ago (from March 21, 2019 through March 20, 2020). This figure decreased compared to the previous year. The most important is the renewed wagons and locomotives are produced domestically.

“Iran is planned to provide loans to railway companies affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Railway companies must provide their guarantees to banks so that no problems arise,” he said.
