In general, 1.44 million TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at the Shahid Rajaee port of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran), during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through January 20, 2022), Director General of Ports and Maritime Department in Hormozgan Province Alireza Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
Mohammadi emphasized that more than 373,000 TEU containers were exported and about 475,000 TEU containers were imported through the Shahid Rajaee port over 10 months.
The director general also added that about 224,000 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at the port for transit purposes, while 213,000 TEU containers - for transit purposes for the reporting period.
The Shahid Rajaee Port is considered the largest and most modern port in Iran. About 6.5 million TEU containers can be loaded and unloaded at the port a year. In this regard, 80 percent of the TEU containers shipment in Iran belong to this port.
